Wat Upakhut, located around China Town near Mae Ping (Ping River), is named for a legendary character in Buddhist folklore—Phra Upakhut. The small temple, which was built around 1300 CE, packs many interesting features into its confined space, including a small vihara with perhaps 1,000 small Buddha figures in it.
